MASONS FIGHT BACK ON DAY 4 OF DUNLOP TARGA

New Zealand's top rallying couple, Richard and Sara Mason, have again shown their undoubted class with a withering display of precision high-speed tarmac driving on Day 4 of the 2008 Dunlop Targa NZ.The Masterton Flyers won 7 of the 9 stages run between Wanganui, Pongaroa and Wellington and placed 2nd on the other two - at an Average Speed of 131 kilometres per hour for the 180k distance.
With just one day to go in the 5 day event, they have brought their bright yellow BNT/Dunlop Subaru right back into contention for outright honours, having almost halved the overnight lead held by the winner for the last two years, Joe McAndrew.
However dethroning the Master of Targa will be a monumental task as Saturday's final day is a loop of 8 stages north of Wellington on roads that have been Joe's playground for almost all his life, but as is often said "It aint over til it's over", so a Battle Royale between the two dominant performers in this 14th edition of the Dunlop Targa is in prospect, with the eventual winners due to return to central Wellington from 5pm.
